Movie Reviews: Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows - Part 2

Movie Review “Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows – Part 2” (2011)

Genre: Adventure, Drama, Fantasy
Director: David Yates
Language: English
Writers: Steve Kloves (Screenplay), J. K. Rowling (Novel)
Star Cast: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Ralph Fiennes, Alan Rickman, Helena Bonham Carter and others
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, is the final adventure in the Harry Potter film series. The movie series we all following for about 10 years now, have ended with this movie. In this epic finale, we will see the battle between the good and evil forces. The whole wizarding world is at war. Harry Potter may have to sacrifice himself to finish Lord Voldemort. But one thing is for sure ‘It all ends here’.
This is final movie based on J.K. Rowling’s novel series. I am huge fan of Harry Potter literature but some of the movies were not up to the mark. But last two parts of these movies are excellent. Deathly Hallows – Part 1 was my favorite of this series till I saw the second part. This part has everything action, emotional drama, mystery and very well managed special effects.
Overall the movie series was really entertaining and satisfying. The success of this movie series was in it casting. Each and every character was perfectly casted and each one of them gave brilliant performance. But the casting of Harry Potter, Harmione, and Ron was absolutely brilliant so was their performances along with Lord Voldermot.
The Art directors, costume designers, Special effects Designer and all the technicians made these movies wonderful experience. But ‘It All Ends Here’.
If I have to rate this movie I will give 9 out of 10.

Movie Review: NO STRINGS ATTACHED

Genre: Romantic Comedy
Director: Ivan Reitman
Language: English
Story: Michael Samonek, Elizabeth Meriwether
Screenplay: Elizabeth Meriwether
Star Cast: Natalie Portman, Ashton Kutcher, Kevin Kline, Cary Elwes and others

I had to admit, I watched this movie because Ashton Kutcher is in it. He is like a veteran now in Romantic Comedy movies but I like his “Butterfly Effect” the most. I like this actor.
To tell you what this movie is about, as the title says “No Strings Attached”, it is a story of 2 people who don’t want to get into any relationship. They just want physical relationship and no emotional attachment. But can they sustain it?
Adam played by Ashton Kutcher and Emma played by Natalie Portman first meet at camp, then several years later, at a party. Several years after that Adam has been dumped by a hot girlfriend and not just dumped she dumped him for his father. Adam drinks himself silly and next morning he finds himself naked in Emma's apartment, where she stays with her roommates. They have sex, next day Adam approach Emma to take one step forward but Emma is not interested in relationship. Instead she proposes that they should be using each other for sex without any emotional attachment. Adam obviously agrees and they have raunchy sex for days. You will think Adam will be happiest person in the world. But no he wants more; he wants to be in relationship with Emma. Will Emma agree? We will find that out end of the movie.
There are no dull moments in the movie as such. Like any other romantic comedy, this is light hearted entertaining movie. Both actors are pleasing to eyes and carried the role easily.
If I have to rate this movie I will give it 6 out of 10.

Book Review: "THE GOOD MAN JESUS & THE SCOUNDREL CHRIST"

ni
BOOK REVIEW “The Good Man Jesus & The Scoundrel Christ”

Author: Philip Pullman
Genre: Fiction, Religious
Language: English
Pages: 245
Cost: 499 Rs.
Publisher: Penguin Books
First Published: 2010

“The Good Man Jesus and the Scoundrel Christ” is a controversial novel with equally controversial title. Not surprisingly the author Philip Pullman has to bear the brunt of Christian fundamentalist and received lots of hate mails and death threats. Author Philip Pullman tries to retell the story of Jesus Christ in very different way than the holy bible. He portrayed Jesus Christ not as one person but two people. Two brothers with names "Jesus" & "Christ". These two have very contrasting personalities from each other. Jesus is a moral and godly man. And his brother Christ is a calculating figure who wishes to use Jesus' legacy to found a powerful institution of Church. So with this perspective and these two characters he retold the same story.

As expected the book has attracted lot of controversy and criticism from fundamentalist. Although I am not Christian and not an expert on Bible, I was aware of Christ story as many of us are. So reading this different perspective was interesting and I will suggest everyone to read this book. What author did in this book is highlighted the positives and negatives of Christianity. He is not denying Jesus being good noble man or godly person; but he is highlighting the deficiency in institution of Church. He is stressing the fact that all greats are defeated by their own followers.

It is a Must Read Book. If I have to rate this book I will give it 8 out of 10.

Author: Agatha Christie

“The Murder on the Links” is another detective fiction by Agatha Christie. It is as good as any of her work and must read for every Agatha Christie fans, even if you are not fan of her work you will surely enjoy this book. No one writes Mystery detective novels better than her.
Anyone who is familiar with Agatha Christie will be aware of her famous detective character Hercule Poirot. In this book, one day Poirot is visited by his friend Captain Hastings eager to tell him about a woman with whom he has fallen in love on the train from Paris. Meanwhile Poirot finds an extraordinary letter in his mails which came from France, requesting him to come immediately.  But when they reach France following the letter he finds the man who wrote him a letter Mr. Renauld is already dead. Poirot did not come on time to save the man; but now he takes it upon himself to unravel the mystery surrounding the death and find the responsible person.
As I said earlier no one is better in handling the mystery than Agatha Christie.
